After his father founded the local ski club in Camprodón, Spain in 1934, Filippo Rigat continued with the family business and passion for winter sports. The Rigat family installed the first cable car at the La Molina ski resort and later opened a new hotel after the previous one was destroyed in a fire. Filippo was a keen Alpine skier and partcipated at the 1958 World Championships, where he earned a place on the Spanish Olympic team. He was scheduled to compete in the downhill, slalom, and giant slalom at the 1960 Squaw Valley Games but ultimately did not start.
