Sonja, sister of Robert Manzenreiter, was the Youth World Champ In 1992 and 1993. She went on to become a three-time Austrian Olympic luger participating at the 1998 Nagano, 2002 Salt Lake City, and 2006 Torino Winter Games. She competed in the women’s singles and placed tenth and seventh in 1998 and 2002. At Torino, she crashed on the third run while lying in fifth place and had to withdraw.
At the 2003 World Championships, Manzenreiter collected a team bronze medal. That same year she was awarded the Decoration of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria. She became an occupational therapist by profession.
