Belgian Paul Wissaert, who studied in Bruxelles, Paris and Florence, was mainly a medal artist, but also did some sculpture. He created the Resistance Medal, which was awarded to Belgian resistance fighters from World War II. Wissaert also designed the 1935 50 Francs commemorative coin commemorating the centennial of the Belgian Railways and the World Exposition of 1935 in Bruxelles and additional commemorative coins for the Belgian state.
