Bernard Schmied was a Swiss basketball player who represented Servette FC in Genève. Schmied was part of the Swiss team that played in the tournament at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics. At the Games, however, Switzerland lost their two matches in the qualification round and were eliminated. After his sporting career Schmied later became a religious minister in Genève.
