Biography

Mihai Nedef played basketball for Romania at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics. He played for Steaua Buçaresti from 1957-67, and helped them win 10 consecutive national titles. Nedef earned 258 caps for Romania, with his biggest international honor a bronze medal at the 1961 European Champions Cup. He also helped them finish fifth at the 1957 European Championships, the highest finish ever by Romania in that tournament. Nedef later coached Steaua from 1975-88, leading them to six national championships. He also served as a colonel in the Romanian Armed Forces reserves.
