Kilian Albrecht

Austrian alpine skier Kilian Albrecht came an unfortunate fourth in the slalom event at the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics, missing a medal by only 0.04 of a second. He also placed 11th in the alpine combined. Until 2005, he was regarded as one of the best Austrian slalom skiers but, after declining performances, was dismissed from the Austrian Ski Federation squad.

In 2006, Albrecht became a Bulgarian citizen to continue his sports career. In 2010, he represented Bulgaria at the Vancouver Winter Olympics and finished 20th in the slalom event. He also represented Bulgaria at the 2007 and 2011 World Championships with little success. Albrecht became Bulgarian National Slalom Champion in 2007 and 2008.

Albrecht studied sports management and became chairman of the Athletes’ Commission of the International Ski Federation in 2009 for four years. He then became manager of US-skier Mikaela Shiffrin.
