East German cyclist Uwe Preißler was a member of the silver winning 4,000 metres track pursuit team at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, although he rode only in the preliminary rounds. Preißler won the national title in 1989, and also rode in several road races. After re-unification he moved to RC Olympia Dortmund.
