Ivans Klementjevs had the following podium finishes at the Flatwater World Championships: 1st 1985 C1 1000 m, 1st 1989 C1 1000 m, 1st 1989 C1 10000 m, 1st 1990 C1 1000 m, 1st 1991 C1 1000 m, 1st 1993 C1 1000 m, 1st 1994 C1 1000 m, 2nd 1983 C2 500 m (with the non-Olympian Sergey Ossadzhiy), 2nd 1986 C1 1000 m, 2nd 1991 C1 10000 m, 3rd 1987 C1 1000 m, 3rd 1990 C1 10000 m, 3rd 1995 C1 1000 m. Klementjevs competed for the Soviet Union up to 1991 and represented Latvia from 1992 onwords.
