Chen Luyan played basketball for China at the 2004 Olympics. She also played for the national team at the 2002 World Championships and the 2001 and 2004 Asian Championships. Chen won a silver medal at the 2001 Universiade. She later became a coach, helping the Chinese team win the 3-on-3 title at the inaugural Youth Olympic Games in 2010.
