Bernhard Eisel was an Austrian cyclist participating in the road race at the 2004 Athens and 2012 London Olympics. He did not finish the race in 2004 and placed 37th in 2012. Between 2003-15 he rode four Giro d’Italia, 12 Tour de France, and three Vuelta a España, all with limited results. Although Eisel never won a stage at any of the Tours, as a domestique he did help team-mate Mark Cavendish to victory in many of his 55 career stage wins.
In 2006, 2010, and 2011, Eisel was named Austrian Cyclist of the Year. His greatest moment came in 2010 in winning the classic Gent–Wevelgem race. He later became Directeur Sportif at several professional cycling teams. He also co-commented on road races with the TV channel Eurosport.
