Reanna Solomon took up weightlifting in the 1990s and made her first appearance at the 1998 World Championships, where she was 16th and last in the super-heavyweight division. She was 20th at the 1999 edition and then had her greatest success at the 2002 Commonwealth Games, where she won the gold medal in that category and had the best result in the clean and jerk portion, in addition to being third in the snatch. She was the overall champion at the 2003 Pacific Games, also placing 21st at that year’s World Championships. She finally reached the Olympics in 2004, where she placed 11th. She retired from active competition after the Games and settled into family life, but unfortunately became her country’s first COVID-19 fatality in 2022.
