Tecla Marinescu-Borcănea had the following podium finishes at the Flatwater World Championships: 3rd 1983 K4 500 m (with Agafia Buhaev, Nastasia Ionescu, and Maria Ştefan), 3rd 1986 K4 500 m (with the non-Olympians Marina Ciucur, Ana Larie, and Luminată Munteanu).
