In September 2019 Forsyth was caught by undercover police after he and an associate, Sean Leslie Cooney, had imported $84 million worth of methamphetamine (meth) into New Zealand from his home in Australia. The judge was somewhat lenient on Forsyth after evidence was produced that he suffered from a major neuro-cognitive disorder from a traumatic brain injury he sustained in an assault in 2017.
