Mimis Domazos was a legend in Greek football and had a lengthy career at Panathinaikos. Domazos joined the club in 1959 and spent more than 20 years at the team, playing in more than 500 matches and scoring more than 130 goals. He won the Greek league on nine occasions (1960–62, 1964–65, 1969–72, 1977), along with three Greek Cups (1967, 1969, 1977) and the Balkans Cup in 1977. He also captained the team for 15 years where they reached the final of the 1971 European Cup but lost 2–0 to Ajax. His career with the Greek national team had a similar longevity, with him playing in 50 matches between 1959 and 1980. In 2004 Domazos was honoured for his sporting achievements in Greece by being one of the torch bearers within the Olympic Stadium at the Opening Ceremony of the Athina Games.
