Pippa Wilson had the unenviable task of replacing double Olympic champion Shirley Robertson as a member of the British Olympic team in the Yngling Class. After having considerable success as a junior, which included a world junior title in the 29er class in 2002, she raced in the 470 class up until she joined Sarah Ayton and Sarah Webb in the Yngling boat in 2007. In their first season together they won the World Championships and the Olympic test event and followed this by retaining their world title in early 2008 before adding the European and Olympic gold medals later in the year. When the crew broke up following their Olympic triumph she returned to campaigning in the 470 class.
