Jack Hickey toured Britain with the Australian national rugby team (Wallabies) in 1908, earning caps in test matches against England and Wales. He also scored a try in a match against Cornwall, which was the final of the 1908 Olympic rugby tournament. After his return to Australia, he joined several of his team mates from the tour in switching to rugby league. He also played two test matches for Australia in that code, competing in two matches against Great Britain in 1910.
