Biography

Karin Schlüter was a dressage rider who earned a team silver medal at the 1972 München home Olympics. Four years later she was a substitute but did not start. Individually she finished seventh with Listro in 1972. In 1973 and in 1975 she was a West German team member winning the Europeans, and in 1974 winning the Worlds. Schlüter also claimed an individual European bronze in 1975. She also won West German titles in 1970, and 1973-75.

After her retirement Schlüter started painting using the mediums of acrylics and oils. Her unique, expressionistic style lent itself to a very broad interpretation. Married to Jim Billings, Karin lived most of the year in Sarasota, Florida, but returned each summer to her hometown of Hamburg, Germany.
