Biography

Dressage rider Ida von Nagel finished 10th in the individual dressage at the 1952 Helsinki Games on Afrika, but she did win the bronze medal in the team event. Together with Marjorie Haines, Else Christophersen and Lis Hartel they were the first women to be allowed to participate in equestrian events. Afrika won another silver medal with Anneliese Küppers in the team competition at Stockholm in 1956. Ida von Nagel belonged to a well-known family of horse breeders.
