Biography

Lieutenant Jules Joseph Bonvalet rendered outstanding services as a scouting officer of the 1st Guides Regiment, a cavalry regiment, in World War I and he was decorated several times because of his prowess, authority, coolness and determination. In 1920, he was ranked 12th with his horse Weppelghem in the individual three-day event and won a bronze medal with the team, placing 15th individually. Four years later, the combination of Bonvalet on Weppelghem competed again in eventing, finishing 16th individually and fifth with the team.
