Carlos Figueroa, the 12th Marques de San Damian, was descended from one of Spain’s most illustrious families. His title dates from 1606. His grandfather, Don Álvaro de FIgeuroa, the Count of Romanones, served three terms as Prime Minister of Spain (1912-18). Carlos Figeuroa used his wealth to compete around the world in equestrian competitions, winning the King George V Gold Cup in London in 1952, when he was only 20-years-old. He had homes in Marbella and Madrid, Spain, and also one in Palm Beach, Florida, where he was a member of the very exclusive Everglades Club.
