Biography

Giuseppe Sabelli Fioretti was an Italian journalist who was a Roma correspondent for La Gazzetta dello Sport and did the first live radio commentary of a sporting event in Italy. That was on 25 March 1928 on the occasion of the inauguration in Roma of the Stadium of the P.N.F. (National Fascist Party) when Italy beat Hungary 4-3 for the International Football Cup.

In later years he became director of Corriere dello Sport, and in 1944 he became a regent of CONI in charge of winter sports and was head of the Press Office at the 1956 Winter Olympics in Cortina and the 1960 Roma Olympics.
