Pierpaolo Maza was a major figure in sports administration in his native city of Torino. At the start of his career he was Torino’s city manager and was then national secretary of the UISP (Italian Union of Sport for All), the largest sports promotion association in Italy. From 2001-04 Maza was a technical member of the Organizing Committee for the 2006 Olympic Winter Games for which he was Vice-President from 2004-06. In the following years he was a consultant to the Piedmont Region for sports programming and for tourism and sports development projects for major events.
Maza was President of the XX Marzo Foundation from 2010-12, dealing with regional development with reference to tourism, sports, cultural and social activities. Beginning in 2013 he was the Managing Administrator of SAT, the Consortium Company for the technical services of the Municipalities.
