Dandeh Njie played nearly every sport available to him growing up, but excelled in cricket and football in particular during his youth and played both sports at the club level and internationally well into his 30s. He was as multifarious in his administrative career as he was in his competitive one, but he most notably served as President of The Gambia National Olympic Committee for two decades, from 1989 to 2009. He came to GNOC through his administrative roles with the Gambia Tennis Association (another sport at which he was proficient as a competitor) and also served as President of the Gambia Cricket Association in the 1980s. Outside of sport, he was a businessman.
