Fawaz Abu Al Ghanam was a minister and ambassador who also served as the President of the National Olympic Committee of Jordan. Abu Al Ghanam began his political career in the 1960s, serving as the secretary general of the Ministry of Culture and Information from 1967 until 1971. This was followed by spells as the director general of the Tourism Authority (1973) and as the secretary general of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1976–77). During the late 1970s and early 1980s he served as the Jordanian ambassador to Greece, Egypt, and Morocco.
After serving as a special advisor to the Prime Minister in the 1980s, Abu Al Ghanam served as the Minister of Youth and Sports in the early 1990s. It was during this time that he was appointed as the President of Jordan’s Olympic Committee. He continued with his political career with several stints in the Jordanian senate.
