Nicholas Colquhoun-Denvers was educated in Western Australia, where he began to play polo in the late 1960s whilst serving in the Australian public service. Colquhoun-Denvers then moved to England, spending six years in the British Army and representing the Army polo team. He later worked in senior administration roles in the sport, including as the chair of both the Ham Polo Club from 1995 to 2018, and the Hurlingham Polo Association from 2009 to 2012. From 2014 to 2018 Colquhoun-Denvers served as the President of the Federation of International Polo.
