The following year, Torti succeeded Britain’s Trevor Pryce Legget as president of the European Judo Union (UEJ) at their second congress at Bloomendaal (The Netherlands).
In 1951 Torti was elected the first president of the International Judo Federation. He held the post for just one year when he resigned to support the rise of Risei Kano, son of Jigoro Kano, the founder of Judo. Torti died in 1966 and had an Italian National Judo Trophy named in his honour.
