Biography

Renyldo Ferreira joined the Brazilian Army in 1943 and quickly took to horseback riding. He made his international début in equestrian at the 1948 London Olympics, where he was 31st in the individual eventing competition, but did not rank with the team, as one of his compatriots failed to finish. Ferreira would go on to compete in jumping at the next three editions of the Games, never reaching the podium, although he came close in 1952 when he was fourth with the Brazilian team, alongside Eloy de Menezes and Alvaro de Toledo. Ferreira had much more success at the Pan American Games, at which he competed in 1951, 1959, 1963, and 1967. In 1959 he won silver with the jumping team (with Nelson Pessoa Filho and the non-Olympians Francisco Rabelo and Antonio Carvalho) and in 1967 took gold in the same event (alongside Pessoa Filho, José Fernandez, and Antônio Simões).
