Biography

Henric was the son of Arvid Horn af Åminne, a Swedish count, master of ceremonies, herald of the kingdom and archivist. In 1903, Henric graduated from secondary school and volunteered for the Life Guards on Horseback in the same year. One year later, he joined the Skåne Dragoon Regiment as a sergeant and enrolled in military school, from which he graduated in 1905. In 1908 he was promoted to lieutenant.

At the 1912 Olympic Games in Stockholm Horn af Åminne was a member of the Swedish team that won gold in eventing on his horse Omen placing 10th individually. In 1913-14 he was seconded to the Military Riding Institute in Hannover, Germany. He was transferred to the reserve in 1916, where he rose to captain. In the same rank he was transferred to the Life Guards Regiment in 1928 and discharged from service in 1930.

In 1909, Horn af Åminne married Astrid Wawrinsky, with whom he had two sons and one daughter. He divorced her in 1931 and married Greta Victoria Lindberg a year later.
