Argentine equestrian Ricardo Kierkegaard became an international champion in Viña del Mar, Chile in 1985. Later that same year Kierkegaard competed at multiple events across Europe, finishing in second place at both the Grand Prix of Royane in France and the Grand Prix of Wiesbaden in Germany. Back home in Argentina he was a three-time national champion (1993, 2005, 2006) and set a national record in the high jump in 1992. Kierkegaard competed at four editions of the Pan American Games from 1995 to 2007 and was part of the Argentine team that participated at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
Kierkegaard was a two-time winner of the Konex Award (2000, 2010) and won the Jorge Newbery Prize in 2005. His son Richard represented Argentina at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires.
