Biography

Equestrian rider Peter Luther was a member of the West German show jumping team that won the bronze medal at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics riding Livius. Individually, he placed 11th. His greatest moment came in 1980 when he won the German Spring Derby. In 1982, he won a team silver at the World Championships, and at the Europeans, won gold in 1981, silver in 1979, and bronze in 1985.

Luther retired from active show jumping and worked as a trainer for horses and riders on his farm in Wittmoldt, to which he moved in 1986. His sons Thieß and Hauke, and his grandchildren Jarka and Jesse, all became competition riders too.
