Biography

Lucio Manzin continued his equestrian activity, although interrupted by the war, after having been Commander of the Battaglione Italia in the War of Liberation 1943-45 and subsequently active in politics in the Partito d’Azione. He competed at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics in eventing where he was eliminated at obstacle 17 of the cross-country event. In the following years he remained with the national team, becoming head of the Italian eventing squad, alongside Vittorio Zecchini and Fabio Mangilli.

His highlight was at the 1980 Moskva Olympics when Federico Roman won the individual gold medal. But due to a decision of the Italian Equestrian Sports Federation, aligned with the other federations of Western Europe, no support was given to the team and all the technicians, including Manzin, were forced to forgo the trip.
