Biography

Jean-Louis Martin was a French equestrian who rode Quel Feu at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics. In the individual event Martin finished in 24th place in the dressage but was disqualified in the cross-country element and therefore did not start in the jumping. Despite Martin not finishing, the French team were still able to finish in fourth place overall.

Martin founded and ran the national riding school of France before spending most of his life in Morocco. There he created the national federation’s stables as well as designing and organising eventing in the country.
