Hans Möhr was born in Maienfeld, a small town near the Swiss border with Austria and Liechtenstein. Initially he worked as a farmer, but later he trained young military horses for the Swiss Army, as until 1972 Switzerland was the last country in Europe with a cavalry. In 1960 and 1964 Möhr participated in the Olympics as an individual rider, and in 1964 he also started in the team event. His biggest success, besides his Olympic participations, was winning the 1964 Grand Prix of Switzerland at the CSIO in Lucerne together with his 1964 Olympic horse Troll . He and Troll also won the Lonsdale Trophy in puissance (a variant of high jumping) at the 1963 Royal International Horse Show at White City, London.
