Trinidadian Jarrin Solomon had an impressive international 4x400m relay career, winning a World Championship silver in 2015 in Beijing, and an Olympic bronze medal in 2012 in London where he had the race of his life in the second leg of the 4x400m with a relay split of 44.3 seconds. He also won a Pan American Games gold medal (2015), two bronze medals at the World Indoor Championships (2012, 2016), one bronze at the Commonwealth Games (2014), and one bronze at the World Relays (2014).
A dual citizen with the United States and Trinidad, Soloman was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. He attended La Cueva High School and the University of New Mexico (UNM) turning down a soccer scholarship from another school, so as to not break family tradition, as both his parents went to the UNM in Albuquerque. His father, Mike Solomon, competed in athletics for UNM and represented his native Trinidad and Tobago at two Olympic Games finishing sixth in the 4x400m relay in 1976 in Montréal and 1980 in Moscow (was also sixth in the 400m).
