Biography

Haziq Bin Kamaruddin was a talented archer from Malaysia who won multiple medals at the South East Asian (SEA) Games. Kamaruddin won four gold medals in the team event at the SEA Games (2011, 2013, 2015, 2017), along with a silver medal in 2019. He also won an individual silver medal at the 2015 SEA Games in Singapore. He was part of the team that won gold at the 2011 Asian Archery Championships in Tehran and silver at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon. Kamaruddin competed in the individual and team events at the 2012 London and 2016 Rio Olympics and finished in 33rd place in the individual competition on both occasions. He died suddenly in May 2021 at the age of 27 from complications arising from clogged heart blood vessels due to coronary artery atherosclerosis.
