Austrian equestrian rider Herbert Ziegler took part in the 1936 Berlin Olympics in the individual eventing competition. He rode Manada and was disqualified. During World War II Ziegler served as Oberst in the German Wehrmacht and was killed in Italy on June 25, 1944. He is buried at the Futapass War Cemetery.
