Biography
German track cyclist Annett Neumann participated in two Olympic Games, at Barcelona in 1992 and at Atlanta in 1996, winning the silver medal in the individual sprint in 1992. Four years later she placed an unfortunate fourth. She also won three more silver medals at the 1991 and 1996 World Championships. In 1990, she won the sprint classic race Grand Prix de Paris. Neumann was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf in 1993, Germany’s highest sports award. She was briefly married to her coach Detlef Uibel but they later divorced.
