Kouflu Alazar was an Eritrean cyclist who represented Ethiopia during the late 1950s and early 1960s. In 1960 Ethiopia sent a delegation of ten athletes to the Olympics in Roma, with five of them competing in road cycling. Alazar was one of the four cyclists who competed in the individual road race. The race was started in tremendous heat (38º C/100º F), with only 76 of the 142 starters completing the course, with Alazar amongst the many non-finishers on the day. He later worked as a cycling coach for the Eritrean team.
