In 1964 four Eritrean cyclists represented Ethiopia at the Tokyo Olympics. Suleman Ambaye was one of the four selected to compete for the nation in both the road race and the 100 kilometres team time trial. Whilst he did not finish in the former, Ethiopia did place 26th out of the 33 teams to compete in the latter.
