Biography

Swiss cyclist Hubert Bächli began his career in 1957, finishing third a year later in the national sprint championship. In 1960 Bächli was selected to compete in the individual road race at the Roma Olympics where he finished 72nd, more than 11 minutes behind the race winner. At the Games he also finished ninth in the 100 kilometres team time trial. He had better success back home, finishing as the sprint runner-up in 1962 before becoming the Swiss omnium champion in 1964.
