Biography

Australian cyclist Ken Caves competed on both the road and track in the late 1940s and early 1950s. In 1948 Caves was selected to ride in the road race at the London Olympics but did not finish the course. He had better fortunes two years later when he won bronze in the 10 miles scratch race at the 1950 British Empire Games in Auckland, New Zealand. One year later he won an Olympic selection race to earn himself a place on the Australian team for the 1952 Helsinki Games. Caves once again competed in the road race, as well as the 4,000 metres team pursuit on the track.
