Biography

Born in Slovenia in 1933, Vid Cencic later moved to Uruguay where he became a competitive cyclist during the 1960s. Cencic rode in several editions of the Vuelta del Uruguay, winning five stages in addition to finishing third in 1968 and fourth in 1962 and 1966. At the 1962 World Road Championships he and compatriots Juan José Timón, Rubén Etchebarne, and René Pezzati won bronze in the 100 km team time trial. The following year he competed in the road race and team time trial at the 1963 Pan American Games, before riding in the same two events at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics.
