Nello Ciaccheri was one of the first Toscana cyclists to be ranked amongst the best in Italy. Although an amateur, he raced in the 1920s, at a time when amateurs and professionals raced together, and he enjoyed some success. His international début was at the 1923 World Amateur Road Race Championship in Zürich, where he finished ninth, in a race won by Libero Ferrario, the first Italian to win the world title. Ciaccheri’s best result was in winning the 1925 Giro della Toscana. Towards the end of his career, he took part in many one-day races and time-trials, mostly in Southern Italy.
