Biography

During the 1960s cyclist Francisco Cuque made a name for himself at his home race the Vuelta a Guatemala. Cuque was one of only a few cyclists to finish the 1964 and 1968 editions of the race, with both races having 17 stages each. In between these two mammoth editions of the race, he also won a stage of the 1966 edition that took place in the city of Retalhuleu. In 1968 Cuque was part of the Guatemalan delegation that took part in the Mexico City Olympics, finishing 21st with his compatriots in the team time trial.
