Pakistani cyclist Saleem Farooqi competed in the track time trail, the 1,000 metres sprint, the 10 miles scratch, and the road race at the 1954 British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Vancouver. Two years later Farooqi was once again part of Pakistan’s road and track cycling team, this time for the 1956 Olympics in Melbourne. Whilst he did not finish in the individual road race, he did place 21st in the 1,000 metres time trial on the track, and was part of the quartet that rode in the 4,000 metres team pursuit. Farooqi had his best results at the 1958 Asian Games in Tokyo, winning silver in both the 4,000 metres team pursuit and the tandem.
