Biography

Giacomo Fornoni was a gold medalist in the 100 km team time trial at the 1960 Roma Olympics. He later competed for nine years as a professional, all with the Molteni team. Fornoni competed four times at the Giro d’Italia, in 1962-63 and 1965-66, with a best GC placement of 51st in 1965. He also raced three times at both Milano-San Remo and the Giro di Lombardia. In 1964 he won the Trofeo Baracchi two-man time trial alongside Gianni Motta. Fornoni was fourth at the 1963 World Championships on the track in the individual pursuit. After retirement he and his wife opened a restaurant in Rogeno, and named it “Cinque Cerchi” or five rings, in honor of his Olympic gold medal.
