Biography

Ruben Forsblom’s first major international cycling appearance for Finland came at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics, where he failed to finish the road race and the national team was unplaced. He was, however, the Finnish champion in that event in 1953 and 1954, and took silver in 1955, behind Paul Nyman. As a member of Porvoon Akilles, he was team road race champion three consecutive years, from 1953 through 1955. His only other major international competition was the 1953 World Championships, where he did not reach the podium. He retired from active competition shortly thereafter and never turned professional. His older brother Holger was also a cyclist and was a World deaf bronze medalist in 1948.
