Gert Frank won an Olympic bronze medal in the team time trial at the 1976 Montréal Olympics, although he was actually better known in his native Denmark as a track racer. He turned pro after the Olympics and was Danish Champion in the individual pursuit in 1977 and 1979 and won the Danish title in the omnium in 1980. He won four European Championships in the tandem sprint.
Frank later became known as one of the top six-day racers in the world. He started at 143 six-day races, winning 20 of them with 62 podium finishes. He retired in 1988 and became the purchasing manager of a computer company and owned his own bicycle shop in København.
