René Gagnet participated in the road time trial at the 1912 Olympic Games in Stockholm, finishing 64th in the individual road time trial and 10th in the team event. Only one other result for him has been documented, a 16th place in the Tours - Paris race in 1918.
With his wife Marcelle, Gagnet had one daughter.
