After winning the gold medal in the team road race at Antwerpen in 1920 and placing ninth at the 1921 World Championships in København, Marcel Gobillot turned professional. He had a number of podium finishes, including second places at Paris-Bourges (1924) and Paris-L’Aigle (1927). His only victory, however, came in 1924 when he won the Criterion of Alençonin. Gobillot changed teams almost annually, riding for Peugeot-Wolber in 1923, Alcyon-Dunlop in 1925, and Meteor-Wolber in 1926. He retired in 1931.
